Why Golf Is an Excellent Sport for Your Child
The golf It's not just a sport. It's an accelerator of personal development... provided it is taught properly.
Unlike other, more "explosive" activities, golf teaches your child to channel their energy, think clearly, and manage their emotions. And you'll quickly see the benefits off the course.
From the Belvédère driving range, our instructors observe the same thing every week: the children who progress the fastest aren't necessarily the most physically gifted, but those who come regularly and learn to accept a bad shot without getting discouraged. This is precisely what a structured golf school focuses on over the long term, rather than a single, short-term course.
Golf is one of the few sports that can be played throughout one's life, with family, at any age and at any level. It's an educational investment that goes far beyond mere athletic performance.
What parents appreciate most? It's not the swing. It's the change in behavior.
More calm, more concentration, more confidence — benefits that can be found both on the course and at school or at home.
Compared to other team sports, golf has the unique characteristic of never directly pitting children against each other: each player competes against the course and against themselves, which greatly reduces the pressure to perform and the fear of disappointing others. This is often what most reassures children who are reserved or less comfortable in more competitive sports.
- Learning concentration in a calm environment.
- Natural management of frustration and setbacks.
- Building confidence through visible progress.
- An outdoor activity that keeps children away from screens while providing strong mental stimulation
Life at the golf school parent-child competitions and outings
Each season, the golf school organizes special events that bring the club to life: parent-child competitions, first scorecards on the 9-hole course, flag presentations, and end-of-term snacks. It's often these moments that make children want to come back.

From what age can one Starting golf school in Annecy?
The Belvédère Golf School welcomes children and teenagers from 6 years old, divided into three age groups so that everyone can progress with peers of their level:
- 6-9 years old : playful discovery, motor skills, first technical gestures.
- 10-13 years old : structuring the swing, introduction to playing on the course.
- 14-18 years old : technical improvement, preparation for competition for those who wish it.
This distribution prevents a 7-year-old from ending up in the same group as a 15-year-old adolescent — a level gap that often discourages younger children in less segmented structures.
Since its creation, the Belvédère golf school has guided several generations of young golfers in Annecy, with a stable teaching team and direct access to the club's 9-hole course for practical application. Here are a few key points:
The 9-hole Belvédère course, with its view of Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountains, offers a particularly motivating setting for young golfers who have just spent their first hours at the practice range: seeing immediately where learning leads helps a lot to maintain motivation over time.

A golf school designed for clear progress without pressure.
The biggest concern for parents: "What if he doesn't take to it?"«
The answer is simple: here, everything is done to avoid that. Your child is never put in difficulty. They progress step by step, with objectives tailored to their actual level, not to a theoretical program that's the same for everyone.
The progression follows a simple logic: mastery of the fundamentals to The driving range (grip, posture, short game), then practical application on the 9-hole Belvédère course as soon as their skill level allows. Between group lessons, children can return to the driving range with their parents to practice freely, which significantly accelerates their progress.
This lack of pressure is intentional: a child who associates golf with constraint quickly gives up. The coaching team therefore prioritizes fun exercises, small challenges between classmates in the same group, and a systematic focus on individual progress rather than comparisons between children.
The result: the vast majority of young people who registered for one season return the following season, often with one or more friends convinced by their enthusiasm.
- Structured learning pathway (beginner → independent player)
- Simple goals for each session to maintain motivation
- Progressive real-course experience and on-course situations
- Focus on progress and improvement rather than results
